GETTING STARTED WITH AI – ADVICE & BUILD

AI consulting that ends in a working system.

I spent a decade as a consultant and know what a recommendation is worth when nobody builds it. So I do both: find the places where AI genuinely pays off in your business, then build them myself – and stay until they run.

What is hype – and what would be a mistake to ignore?

Almost every leader I meet feels both at once: a clear sense that AI matters, and a sense of being overwhelmed by it. Every vendor now sells “AI”. Every newsletter announces the next model. And somewhere in between sit real questions nobody has had time to answer: How can AI become more for your people than another chatbot? What actually makes AI agents different from the automation that has been running in your business for years? Which of this is relevant to a company your size, and which is noise?

What I offer is clarity: an overview of the possibilities that are genuinely relevant to you, in plain language, and clear first steps that pay off right away. Not a slide deck about the future of work – a short list of things worth doing in your business, and an honest word about the things that aren’t.

Tidy up first, then power up the AI.

Before AI even comes into it, there are a few honest questions to answer: where does the information live that the business can’t run without? Can people find it when they need it? Does it all fit together? More often than not, what turns up is a mess that has grown over the years: key figures in a spreadsheet on one person’s laptop; tools everyone depends on but nobody likes; knowledge that lives only in a handful of heads. It has all “somehow worked” so far – a credit to well-drilled teams, or to elaborate integrations quietly keeping everything in sync.

So we start by tidying up together: how many sources and tools do we actually need? What can be pulled into a single source of truth? And what does your team need to work well with it? Only on a clean foundation can AI live up to its promise – an assistant that answers from your documents is only as good as the documents, and one that reads your pipeline is only as good as the pipeline.

The places where AI typically makes a real difference.

Every business is different, but the places where AI earns its keep look remarkably similar across companies. These are the ones I see most often – and have built.

01

Knowledge that is hard to find.

Years of documents, research, offers and project files that nobody can search. An assistant that answers questions from exactly this material, in plain language and with sources, turns an archive into something your team actually uses.

02

Repetitive paperwork.

Reading inboxes, drafting replies and follow-ups, pulling the relevant facts out of documents and into your systems. Work that is important, nobody enjoys, and that an assistant can prepare for a person to check and send.

03

A clear picture of the numbers.

Figures scattered across tools and spreadsheets, brought together into one live view: sales against target, projects against plan, the forecast that used to be rebuilt by hand every month.

04

Listening to customers at scale.

Reviews, tickets, forum posts and conversations read for themes and mood – across millions of items if need be – so you know how people feel about a product before the quarterly numbers tell you.

05

Agents with a job.

Systems that pursue a clearly defined goal on their own: researching and getting to know new prospects, watching a market for opportunities, keeping a dataset current. Always with a person deciding what happens next.

Understand first. Then build something that works.

It starts with a picture of your business: the model, where the value is created, the everyday processes and the data they run on, along with your biggest pain points. Then, together with you, I find the places where AI can make a real difference. What comes out is a clear, honest overview – what’s worth doing, what isn’t, and what to watch out for. The overview is not the deliverable, though. The working system is.

From there we pick one thing and build it: a solution hooked into the tools you already use – your CRM, your email, your files, your project system – that your team can work with. Once it’s live, I help you keep it in good shape and grow it as your needs change. Prefer to keep it in your own hands? Enabling your team is part of what I do, so the know-how stays in-house and keeps growing.

Europe-friendly, transparent AI.

AI shouldn’t be something you have to trust blindly. I build systems whose decisions stay traceable and that can be paused at any time. The decisions that matter most are still made by people – exactly as the GDPR requires for automated decisions with a significant effect. And you decide where your data lives and which paths it’s allowed to take, so compliance isn’t an afterthought – it’s part of the architecture.

What this looks like in practice.

BI PLATFORM

Millions of user posts, one clear signal

The challenge

A global consumer brand had millions of product reviews and social media posts spread across a dozen platforms – but no structured way to see the emotions behind them.

What I built

An end-to-end pipeline that brings together reviews and social media posts from around ten sources and then analyzes their emotions with a custom-trained AI recognition model. A human-in-the-loop console lets the team review and adjust the results before they land in the dashboard.

The outcome

Around five million items scored and kept continuously up to date – so the brand always has a current picture of how customers feel about individual products and themes, at a fraction of the cost of doing it by hand. And because the emotional picture points straight to what to do next, it gives the client concrete activation ideas – turning pure market research into a strategic tool.

KNOWLEDGE ASSISTANT

An AI brain for a global brand

The challenge

A global automotive brand sat on years of market research from dozens of regions – but its teams could not get answers out of it quickly.

What I built

A private portal in the brand’s look, with the research organized by region and segment, plus a conversational assistant that answers questions in plain language – based solely on the material the brand makes available.

The outcome

Staff get grounded answers in seconds instead of digging through presentations – all from one secure place.

The questions that come up in almost every first conversation.

Do we need to be “ready” for AI before we talk?

No. Finding out where you stand is the first step, not a precondition. Most companies I talk to have scattered data, a few tools nobody loves and no clear picture of what AI could do for them – that is exactly the starting point this work is made for.

Isn’t a ChatGPT subscription enough?

For individuals it is a good start, and many of your people are probably using it already. The value for the company comes when AI is connected to your own data and systems – your documents, your CRM, your inbox – and works inside the processes your team actually runs. That is a different kind of project, and it is the one I do.

Do we have to hand our data to OpenAI or Google?

You decide where your data lives and which paths it may take. Models can run through European cloud regions, inside your own cloud account, or – where it has to – directly on the device, with no data leaving it at all. Which option fits depends on the data, and it is one of the first things we settle.

What does a first step cost?

That depends on the scope, and I would rather tell you honestly after a first conversation than put a figure here that fits nobody. What I can say: starting small is the norm. A clear picture first, then one use case that proves itself, before anything bigger is decided.

What if AI turns out not to be the right answer for us?

Then I say so. Sometimes a simple website, a tidy database or an internal tool is all a company needs at that moment – and it lays a clean foundation for adding AI later. I hold myself to being straight with you about this, even when it means a smaller project.

Can our own team run this afterwards?

Yes. Enabling your team is part of what I do: I show your people how to run, maintain and evolve these systems with confidence – or how to set up the next ones themselves. The alternative is that I keep looking after it with you. Both are fine; what matters is that the know-how doesn’t leave with me.

INVITATION

Let's find your first step.

Tell me a little about your business and where you stand on AI. I read every message myself and normally reply within a working day.
